Frame Assembly Guide
This is the Mid Plate. Note the triangle in the centre of the plate; this points to the front of the frame.
Install 4 × M3 press nuts into the 4 outer holes in the Mid Plate using the method shown in the video. Do not use a hammer or similar tool, as this can damage the plate.
Install 4 × M3 press nuts into the 4 arms using the same method. All arm pieces are identical, so it does not matter which position they are installed in.

Through the underside of the Bottom Plate, insert 4 × M3 × 8 mm bolts through 4 × cap-head washers into the centre 4 holes of the Bottom Plate.
Loosely attach the arms by screwing the 8 mm bolts through the Bottom Plate and into the press nuts installed in the arms. For now, use only a half twist or two so they do not fall out. Loctite Blue 242 may be applied to the 8 mm bolts at this stage.
Insert the Arm Key piece into the centre of the arms you installed.
There are 2 main stack mounting options: 20 × 20 mm and 30.5 × 30.5 mm. Decide which mounting pattern you want to use.
Install 4 × M3 × 18 mm countersunk bolts through the selected mounting holes in the Mid Plate, securing them with 4 × M3 black nylon insert nuts.
Place the Mid Plate over the arms, lining the outer holes up with the press nuts in the arms.
Hold the plate in place with one hand. Flip the whole frame over and insert the cap-head washers and the longer 12 mm bolts through the outer holes.
We recommend using Loctite on the bolts installed so far. In a circular pattern, begin to tighten all 8 bolts, first a couple of turns each so they bottom out, then on the next pass firmly tighten them in place.
One of the key features of the Luma 5 design is the use of custom spacers wherever a bolt passes through a 3D printed part. These spacers allow the parts to be installed firmly without crushing the 3D printed material. They are used throughout the design, including the front bumper, arm bumpers and main HD camera mount.
Install the front bumper to the front 2 holes of the Bottom Plate using 2 × M3 × 12 mm bolts, 2 × M3 cap-head washers and 2 × custom spacers into 2 × 28 mm standoffs.
Position the remaining 6 standoffs in the remaining mounting positions. Secure each standoff using an M3 × 10 mm bolt and cap-head washer.
The rear stack riser raises the VTX, allowing the LiPo pigtail and associated wiring to run cleanly underneath the VTX and back to the stack. Two mounting options are available: 20 × 20 mm and 25.5 × 25.5 mm. Select the riser that matches your VTX. For the DJI O4 Pro Air Unit, use the M2 × 14 mm bolts supplied.
The front FPV camera can be mounted using either the standard camera plates or the TPU soft-mount plates. Use the standard plates for 19–20 mm cameras that can be hard-mounted. For cameras with an in-built gyro that require soft mounting, such as the DJI O3 & O4 cameras, use the TPU soft-mount plates. The standard camera plates can be swapped, reversed and rotated to accommodate different camera widths and lens lengths.
The standard camera plates can be configured with the milled sides outward or inward, and can also be rotated 180 degrees to accommodate a wider range of cameras with longer or shorter lenses.
Install the TPU soft-mount plates as shown.
If required, install the 1000 µF Low ESR capacitor holder onto the second set of standoffs. The holder supports capacitors measuring 12.5 × 20 mm.
Modification of the included XT60EW-M connector is required. Trim away the side sections using side cutters or carefully with a hobby knife. Trim along the blue dotted lines shown in the illustration. Once trimmed, install the connector into the Rear Antenna Mount and secure it using 2 × M2.5 × 8 mm countersunk bolts. We recommend soldering your pigtail wires to the XT60 connector before installing it into the rear mount so the pigtail can be routed underneath the VTX and trimmed to suit your ESC pads.
Install the Rear Mount over the two rear standoffs.
The countersunk holes in the top plate face upwards.
Install foam battery pad to the top plate by lining up the centre triangle cutout.
The top plate is installed onto the standoffs using 4 × countersunk M3 × 10 mm bolts through the back 4 countersunk holes.
Position the Front HD Action Camera Mount on the frame and secure it using 4 × custom spacers, 4 × M3 × 9 mm washers and 4 × M3 × 12 mm bolts. Install the securing hardware into the HD Mount: the M5 clinch nut into the left side and the M5 × 20 mm flat-head Phillips bolt into the right side.
Position the arm bumpers on the arms and secure them using 4 × custom spacers, 4 × 9 mm M3 washers and 4 × 14 mm M3 bolts. The bolts screw into the motor bases. Apply Loctite to the bolts before installation.
The motor wire guards are the final components to be installed. Before installing each guard, check the underside for the circle marking. This indicates the outer edge of the guard. The outer side is slightly narrower than the side closest to the frame body. Position the guard over the motor wires, ensuring it is correctly oriented, then secure it with a couple of wraps of electrical tape.
